Andrés de León

Pop Ballad

Biography

Andrés de León's musical calling showed early. In 1980, at just 6 years old, he debuted on Sábado Gigante and was named "child revelation" by the critics. Six years later he won the Estrellas del Futuro competition on Canal 13. In 1993 he signed with BMG and recorded the single "Mi amor de verano", a classic that still gets airplay on Chilean radio. At the same time he launched his international career with appearances on Sábado Gigante Internacional and opening for Whitney Houston in 1994. In 1995 he released his second album, "Todo este tiempo", recorded entirely in London, with the singles "Anclada en mi corazón", "Llévame del otro lado" and "Siempre te amé". Their success earned him an invitation to the 1996 Viña del Mar Festival, where he also sat on the international competition jury, and later to the Acapulco Festival.
